Speed River hosted the 2007 AGSI National Cross Country Championships yesterday and came away with one team title and three individual medals. The Senior Men's team of Reid Coolsaet (1st), Eric Gillis (2nd), Rob Watson (4th), Taylor Murphy (5th), Scott Arnald (13th), Taylor Milne (20th) and Brendan Hunt (31st) captured the gold. Lindsay Carson, running for Tri-City, finished second and Rachel Cliff, running for the Vancouver Thunderbirds, finished seventh in the junior girls race. Also in the junior girls race Speed River athletes Melissa Adam and Anna Bishop placed 133rd and 147th respectively. Speed River's Kyle Boorsma finished second to Matt Leeder in a very tough Junior Boys race. Allan Brett finished seventh for the Ottawa Lions while the Speed River team finished 5th overall in the Junior Boys race with Rob Jackson 11th, Tommy Mosher 57th and Gavin Osborne 111th rounding out the top four. Hilary Stellingwerff finished 17th and Kim Settle 34th for Speed River in the Senior Women's race. In the Master's race, Guelph triathlete James Loaring finished third overall.
